특히 중국은 국가발전개혁위원회, 과학기술부, 산업정보기술부, 재정부 등은 최근 신흥산업과 관련된 여러 정책 중에 산업용가스 산업의 발전을 명시적으로 언급하고 배치했다고 전하고 있다.

이에 지난 2021년 11월 현재 중국에는 전년도보다 6,067개가 늘어난 16,080개의 산업용가스 제조 및 유통 기업이 왕성한 활동을 하고 있다.
마이크로일렉트로닉스나 정밀검사 등 신흥 산업분야의 가스 응용이 증가함에 따라 산업용가스와 관련한 새로운 수요가 대거 유입되면서 연관 산업의 시장규모는 지속적인 증가세를 나타내고 있다.

지난 2020년부터 2021년까지 COVID-19가 전 세계로 급속히 확산됐고 국제 유가가 폭락하면서 국제 상품과 금융 시장이 심하게 요동쳤고 거시경제 및 비즈니스 위험이 급격히 증가했다.

하지만 지난 2020년 기준으로 중국 산업용가스 시장규모는 1,632억 위안(한화 약 31조662억원)으로 전년대비 10.49% 성장했으며 2021년 12월 말 결산기준으로는 1,762억 위안에 이를 것으로 예상하고 있다.

최근 중국 산업용가스 시장은 큰 성장 잠재력을 가지고 활기가 넘치고 있다. 앞으로 수년 안에는 대규모 가스플랜트의 건설도 예고돼 있는 상황이다.

이에 따라 중국 산업용가스 산업의 강력한 성장세를 바탕으로 중국 초저온가스 전시행사인 IG China의 주최측은 오는 9월 6일부터 8일까지 3일간 중국 청두(Chengdu, 成都) 센추리시티 신국제컨벤션전시센터에서 전시회를 추진하기로 했다.

청두는 중국 서부지역의 주요 도시로서 산업용가스와 천연가스 산업의 중요한 기반인 동시에 견고한 제조산업 기반과 함께 산업 체인을 보유한 중국 동서남북을 모두 잇는 가교역할을 하고 있는 도시다.
