Air Liquide (AL) announced that it has recently signed a new 15 year contract with AU Optronics Corporation (AUO), the world’s third largest TFT-LCD producer.
Under the terms of this contract, AL will supply more than 25,000 ㎥/hr of ultra-pure nitrogen (N2) to AUO’s new Fab 11 located in Taichung area.
AL think that this success follows the contract obtained a few months ago with AUO's Fab 10 located in the same area.
Christophe Fontaine Vice-President Electronics of AL, said "This marks a new milestone in AL commercial successes in Asia. Up till now in 2004, we have won 50% of all new contracts signed in the electronics sector."
Ultra-pure N2 is critical to the manufacture of TFT-LCD and is mainly used to create an inert atmosphere around the glass panels during the different manufacturing steps, and to purge process tools and vacuum systems.
