Shell Hydrogen, refers to the companies of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group, officially opened North America's first-ever hydrogen filling station at an existing retail gasoline site in Washington, D.C.
It will provide hydrogen fuel for six GM Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles participating in this Shell-General Motors partnership demonstration project.
The Washington hydrogen fueling facility using Air Products' Series 200 fueling technology, a totally integrated vehicle fueling system and it has the capacity to dispense 20§¸ of gaseous hydrogen per day and also provides a dispenser for liquid hydrogen vehicle fueling.
In July 2004 in Singapore, Air Products hydrogen fueling technology helped launch the world's first hydrogen filling station at an existing retail gasoline station also.
During the opening ceremony, more than two dozen neighborhood residents with safety concerns protested the opening. They don't want the station within 50 yards of an elementary school.
